States have differing death penalty laws in the US.

Map of death penalty

• Dark Blue: no death penalty
• Light Blue: death penalty not applied for at least 10 years
• Brown: death penalty only used in times of war
• Orange: used against adults (regardless of peacetime/wartime)
• Red: used against adults and adolescents

* NOTE: In March 2005 the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that no crime commited by a person under the age of 18 is punishable by the death penalty. The remaining nations that allow executions of minors are: Bangladesh, China, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. See Capital punishment in the United States, Ages of condemned prisoners for more information.

China, Pakistan USA and Yemen have now raised the minimum age to 18 in law, The USA and Iran have each executed more child offenders than the other six countries combined and Iran has now matched the USA's total since 1990 of 19 child executions.
