Der Ausschnitt aus dem Mosaik der Alexanderschlacht (heute in Neapel zu sehen) zeigt den entscheidenden Moment der Schlacht. Der überraschende Angriff des Alexander zeigt blankes Entsetzen in den Augen des Darius III.
