[2] Law 14 of the "Protection of Intellectual Property Rights" was passed by the Cuban National Assembly in 1977, 3 years after Cuba's admition into the United Nations World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 1974. According to Article 6 of the law, "The need to disseminate culture broadly will prevail over the indivudal rights of authors."
